As part of the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal Al Saud, President of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) to Jordan to find out about the development projects and partnerships for the program in the Kingdom, His Highness and the accompanying delegation visited Heart of Amman project, which embraced a series of development initiatives that witnessed the implementation of a new approach In training and qualifying participants from different social groups. the Mayor of Amman, Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, Welcomed his Highness and the accompanying delegation and gave a brief presentation on the cooperation between the Greater Amman Municipality, the United Nations Development Program and the National Microfinance Bank, which is the first financial inclusion banks launched by AGFUND in the Arab region and Africa.
On the sidelines of the visit, His Highness honored a group of entrepreneurs with special needs who benefited from the project. The Prince stressed the priority of this dear group in the AGFUND philosophy, stressing the need for financial innovation in order to integrate them economically and enhance their social participation.
Then His Highness the Prince and the accompanying delegation visited the National Microfinance Bank’s branch in Jabal Al-Hussein area, and met the Branch’s team. During the visit, NMB’s CEO presented a brief about the bank’s strategy in offering different financial services to small projects around the kingdom and in developing the appropriate technology in all its branches and through the provision of e-wallet services to enhance financial inclusion, and it is mentioned that the bank serves more than eighty thousand beneficiaries through 34 branches in the Kingdom.
The delegation moved to King Hussein Cancer Center, where they were welcomed by the director of the center, Dr. Assem Mansour, who accompanied the prince on a visit to the center’s various facilities and briefed him on the center’s achievements in providing the finest treatment services to cancer patients from Jordan and other Arab countries. The prince directed the accompanying delegation to continue discussing with the center and its team to work to develop a model to strengthen the center’s relationship with international insurance companies, which AGFUND has experience in developing innovative financial products in cooperation with them in Sudan, which will enable the center to work to strengthen its presence as one of the most important stations available for treatment of cancer and oncology in the world.
At the end of his visit, the Prince went to the Jordanian Game Lab to be briefed, accompanied by Mr. Saeb Al-Hassan, Director of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, on the applied approach to prepare a generation of game developers who can compete at the global level. Al-Hassan reviewed the lab’s achievements that came through the royal support for this emerging industry. In Jordan and the opportunities it provided for many of the Kingdom’s people through capacity building and enhancement programs, especially for the youth category, the laboratory director Nour Khreis reviewed the experience of a group of startups and independent developers who received support from the laboratory from the beginning until they achieved a market share in the Arab Gulf and the United States of America, His Highness the Prince praised the laboratory experience, which opens up prospects for a promising future for young people involved in modern technology, calling for the dissemination of this culture and the opportunities it holds among Arab youth.
